LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– We’re 30 days away from Kentucky Derby 144, and the first Derby horse has already arrived to Churchill Downs.
Lone Sailor is now in Louisville.
He was owned by the late Tom Benson, the owner of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans, who passed away back in March.
Lone Sailor, trained by Tom Amoss, was a long shot in the Louisiana Derby the week after Benson’s death.
But he ended up placing second, getting his ticket to the Kentucky Derby!
