MADISON COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) After emergency responders spent hours searching for a woman who they believed could have drowned at Lake Reba in Madison County Wednesday night, police and park employees said that the search has been called off because the woman posted on social media.

Richmond Police said that they searched for the unidentified woman in the woods at Camp Catalpa and in the water at Lake Reba. Officials said that a man was rescued from the water Wednesday night after nearly drowning and was taken to the hospital. Police said that the same man told them the unidentified woman was still in the water or at the park, causing the search for her to begin.

One park employee tells LEX 18 that he was worried for the woman’s safety and well being, but is now relieved to see search crews leave the complex.

"Oh, it’s always good any time it ends in a good situation like it did. Good for us, and good for the family as well," said Michael Goggins. "Now they suspended the search, the park is now open? Yes, it’s BACK open again."

Lake Reba was almost shut off to the public to continue the search for the woman, but now the lake is open for normal activities again.
