RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) – Eastern Kentucky University’s Board of Regents met to discuss the school’s dire financial situation.

Students from the affected departments showed up to support their programs. The board proposed eliminating 153 jobs and getting rid of the men and women’s tennis teams.

Of the 505 proposed strategies to cut funding, President Michael Benson said he agreed with 502. He also believed that reduction to academics should be minimized.

The board also discussed saving the theatre and economics programs.
