FRANKFORT, Ky (LEX 18) The Frankfort Police Department announced a new program called Community, Cameras, and Cops, or C.C.C.

This program will allow residents to register their security cameras on their property with the Frankfort Police Department. The department said that this does not give police access to the footage and they would still have to ask for permission to view and copy the footage. It does put camera owners on the C.C.C map that detectives and police can pull up so they can know who has footage in the area. They said that by quickly identifying locations for potential footage they hope to increase the efficiency of the early phases of their investigations.

They are also asking businesses that have cameras register as well. Cameras that face streets, roadways, and access points could be the most beneficial.

To register your camera with the Frankfort Police Department, email your address, name, and phone number to fpdcams@frankfort.ky.gov.
