PIKEVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — A group of teachers in Pike County is calling for a protest Friday in Frankfort.

The group, which calls itself "Pike County Strong," has been organizing protests against budget cuts to public education. A week ago, they held a march in downtown Pikeville.

Now, they have a week’s worth of ideas to help express their displeasure with the passage of Senate Bill 151 and other cuts to education.

The General Assembly will be back in session April 13, and the teachers are asking their friends and co-workers to participate by driving to Frankfort and wearing red.

School officials in Pike County have not announced any changes based on the plans.
