PIKEVILLE, Ky. (EKB News) — The city of Pikeville is finding ways to honor fallen police officer Scotty Hamilton.
EKB News reports here that Hamilton, who was gunned about a month ago while on duty, is being remembered in a variety of ways.
City officials Monday night said Jan. 11 will be Scotty Hamilton Day. They also renamed part of downtown’s East Street after him to Scotty Hamilton Way, which changes the station’s address to Hamilton’s badge number of 111. City commissioners also retired his badge number.
“I can’t believe everything the city has done to help us the family and Chelsea and the baby," Hamilton’s mother said. "It’s just amazing; I have never seen a community come together like Pikeville.”
