LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Three men are facing a long list of charges in relation to two shootings earlier this year in Lexington’s Woodhill neighborhood.

Police say Devontae Cobb, Jacque Jones, and John Harris tried to recruit a teenager to join their gang, but the teen refused. That refusal reportedly led to two shootings on Hedgewood Court back in February as retaliation.

No one was hurt, but the incidents did leave plenty of damage and a broken gas line. Neighbors in the area say gang violence is something everyone needs to pay attention to. Community activist Anita Franklin, who lost her son to gun violence, spoke with LEX 18 about the problem.

"I have a motto, ‘see something, say something, do something," said Franklin.

The Woodhill neighborhood HOA has considered installing a security camera system, but it would cost approximately $32,000.

Cobb, Jones, and Harris are all facing nearly two dozen charges, including first-degree criminal gang recruitment.
