FRANKFORT, Ky (LEX 18) KSP, Finance and Administration Cabinet’s Department for Facilities and Support Services, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are asking the public to remain mindful of safety precautions while at the state Capitol Building and Capitol Annex on Friday and Saturday.

A press release said that the agencies are working to create a safe environment for everyone. Safety protocol and state law require clear and open corridors for easy movement and access to exits.

KSP said that in accordance with state law and safety protocol, crowd size in the Capitol and Annex may be limited to ensure the safety and security of all visitors and employees.

KSP is also working with Franklin County Emergency Management and the Frankfort Police Department to optimize traffic flow and reduce congestion on streets near the Capitol grounds. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead for increased motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

KSP will provide updates through their social media platforms regarding traffic and visitor safety.
