HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Months after a tragic accident killed two small children, a Marion County family is searching for answers.

A Sunday afternoon road trip to the Peddler’s Mall in Elizabethtown, turned into a nightmare for Crystal Shipp and George Smith after a tire blew and their car overturned. Another car with three passengers rear-ended them.

Two of the couple’s four children, 3-year-old Alena and 4-year-old Bragenden, were killed. In the ensuing chaos, the family remembers very little of the crash or its aftermath.

They’re pleading to talk with the family that was in the other car or anyone that witnessed what happened.

"We don’t even know where our kids truly were. I mean how could you put up crosses and things, we did put crosses up for our babies. But how do you put crosses up when you don’t even know where your kids were at?" George Smith told LEX 18.
