ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. (Adair County Community Voice) — A standoff in Adair County ended Tuesday night with the arrest of suspect in armed robbery and shooting.
The Adair County Community Voice reports here that Kentucky State Police and Columbia City police officers surrounded a home on Montgomery Street for about three hours.
That’s because a shooting suspect was believed to be inside.
Police eventually obtained a search warrant and forced their way inside about 10:30 p.m.
Officers arrested 18-year-old William Matheis of Guston after finding him hiding in the attic.
The newspaper reports Matheis is accused of being involved in an armed robbery and shooting in Meade County a week ago.
Matheis is charged with first-degree robbery and assault. He was being held in the Adair County Detention Center.
