MARION COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) A building in Marion County was heavily damaged by a fire Thursday night.
The Marion Inn, a former motel, is now an apartment building that houses several families. A nearby fire spread to the building and displaced everyone that lives there.
The Lebanon Fire Department tells LEX 18 that a trailer behind the building caught fire and the fire spread to the Marion Inn. Eleven units were destroyed.
"I’m glad the fire station got down here right on time," said former resident Artis Willbanks.
Willbanks said that he had good neighbors when he lived at the Marion Inn and that he would sit out on his porch and talk to them all day. He said he feels terrible for his friends that lost almost everything.
"I want to tell them I’m sorry it just happened that way. The Lord is looking after everybody," he said.
No one was injured.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist those affected by the damage.
