(NBC NEWS) – Former NFL kicker and current CBS sports analyst Jay Feely apologized for a picture he posted on twitter Saturday.

The photo showed him holding a gun while standing next to his daughter and her boyfriend with the caption "wishing my beautiful daughter and her date a great time at prom" with the hash-tag "badboys".
Feely’s post prompted a reaction from some who felt it was inappropriate.
He again took to Twitter to explain that his post was only a joke and that he, "…(takes) gun safety seriously… (and) did not intend to be insensitive to that important issue".
He did not remove the original post though.
