Many of the details in this story are disturbing.

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A judge Tuesday sentenced an Indianapolis man to 20 years in prison for charges related to the 2015 stabbing of 6-year-old Woodford County boy Logan Tipton.

In March, a jury found Ronald Exantus, a former dialysis nurse from Indianapolis, not guilty by reason of insanity to murder and burglary charges in the case. But they convicted him on assault charges, for which he was found guilty but mentally ill.

Prosecutors have said Exantus still could be eligible for parole by Christmas 2019. The minimum would be five years if the sentences were served concurrently.

The Tipton family was deeply upset with the verdict, and on Tuesday they and supporters held a march before packing into the sentencing hearing.

Logan’s mother, Heather Tipton, called Exantus a coward.
