(LEX 18) An iconic glove that Prince tried to throw out into the audience after a performance at the Rupp Arena is now on the auction block.

The concert was during his Purple Rain tour in 1984. Prince had thrown the glove to the audience, but it didn’t make it all the way and fell into the scaffolding below.

A former contractor with Rupp Arena was a part of the breakdown team and picked up the signature white lace glove and has been holding on to it ever since.

The auction house said that since Prince’s untimely death in 2016, the demand for his memorabilia has sky-rocketed and this glove is proving to be no different.

"It just shows a testament to Prince’s popularity that it’s already $20,000, and we just can’t wait to see how high the glove can go basically due to its popularity," said Sam Heller.

The auction ends on Thursday and the bidding is already close to $21,000.
