LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A program that provides single-parent families with affordable housing, higher education opportunities, and child development received a huge surprise Tuesday morning.
PNC Bank’s Regional President John Gohmann read the book "Whistle for Willie" to the children at One Parent Scholar House.
Then, teachers were surprised with an $8,000 grant, $4,800 worth of gift cards, and $2,200 worth of apple iPads and accessories.
"Yes, it was a big surprise, it was very hard to keep it a secret from the teachers, but yes it was a great surprise," said Mirsada Simic, the director of the One PArent Scholar House. "PNC has been a great supporter for so many years for one parent and today just shows how much they support us and how much we appreciate their support."
After the presentation, each student was given a copy of the book that was read to them.
