The day after donating her kidney to former UK Coach Bily Gillispie, Ericka Downey she is up and about and even got to visit the man whose life she helped save.
Downey donated a kidney to Gillispie after learning she was a match for the coach.
Downey is also the wife of a basketball coach and found Gillipsie on Twitter. When reading about his kidney ailment, she reached out. They met for the first time in late March.
She says Coach Gillispie seems to be doing well.
"Update: I’m up sitting in a chair. I took a stroll down the hall to visit with Coach Gillispie. Soreness is worse today which is to be expected. Coach has been up walking this morning also. And most importantly the kidney is working! Praise God," Downey tweeted.
