BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A car is destroyed and a house is severely damaged after a traffic stop turned into a pursuit.
The Millersburg Police Chief was attempting to pull a car over with expired tags. The car reportedly stopped at a light, where two passengers were forced out of the vehicle at gunpoint by the driver. They were arrested.
The Bourbon County sheriff’s department says the driver continued to flee. About a mile up the road, the car was found on fire after it had crashed into a home.
The driver was taken to the hospital.
Law enforcement later learned that the driver picked the passengers up at a rest stop on I-64. They were trying to get to Lexington and the driver offered them a ride.
They are unsure why the driver fled, but they did find needles in the car.
The driver has since been identified as 25-year-old Billy Bowles.
