TAYLOR COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Everyone is safe following Wednesday’s standoff near Campbellsville University.
Police say they received a call around 3:15 p.m. that 78-year-old Elwin Hardin claimed he was armed with a gun and was going to kill someone.
Police went to his home on Durrett Street to try to talk with him.
State police and deputies also responded to the scene, where they say Hardin told them that he had a surprise waiting on them.
Investigators say Hardin came out of the home with a gun.
He was tased, then taken into custody.
Hardin is being held in the Taylor County jail.
