CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (Winchester Sun)– Officials in Clark County say a murder-suicide last week was planned.

Last Thursday deputies were called to a home on Two Mile Road in Winchester.

The sheriff says 38-year-old Herbert Rice called 911 saying he shot his wife, 35-year-old Kathleen Costello.  When deputies arrived they say they heard another gunshot. Upon entering they found Rice had turned the gun on himself.

A week earlier Rice had been arrested on child pornography charges.

The sheriff tells the Winchester Sun that Rice made statements that he would rather die than go to jail.

He also says they found papers with statements that Costello couldn’t live without him.
