LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3) – The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness announced two more restaurants in Louisville that have employees diagnosed with acute hepatitis A.
Mark’s Feed Store on Shelbyville Road and Panera on Rudy Lane both have employees with the virus.
Customers who ate at that location of Mark’s Feed Store from April 13 to April 27 may have been exposed to the virus.
For the Panera restaurant, the dates customers may have been exposed are April 12 to April 28.
The health department wants the public to know the chance of contracting hepatitis A from eating at these establishments are low, but they must alert the public "out of an abundance of caution."
The symptoms of hepatitis A include:
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Dark urine
- Clay-colored stools
- Joint pain
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
People can notice these symptoms 15 to 50 days after their exposure to the virus. Anyone who may have been exposed should click or tap here for more information, or call 211.
Those who wish to protect themselves from the virus can get a hep A vaccine.
The hepatitis A outbreak in Louisville remains centered on the homeless population and among those who use drugs, the health department said.
