LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– A new addition to Derby week festivities, Champions Day was held Tuesday at Churchill Downs.

It was an opportunity for race fans to meet hall of fame jockeys and trainers.

People stood in long lines for autographs from jockey Pat Day and other greats like trainers, Nick Zito and Wayne Lukas.

And for them, it was a day to get together and reminisce.

" We’ll they give us an opportunity to have a little lunch and share some old stories some of which I didn’t remember real clearly but it was good just the same and now an opportunity to interact with the fans and do a little autograph session," said Pat Day.

Day also singed autographs Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field during the Derby on the Diamond event.
