(LEX 18) The Deadpool films, which often lampoon comic book movies and pretty much everything else are an odd place for a love song. It shouldn’t be surprising that the Ryan Reynolds foul-mouthed hero film now features a satirical love theme sung by Celine Dion.
But it’s not that connection we’re interested in. Kentucky’s ‘The Voice’ winner Jordan Smith penned the love anthem.
The video for the single "Ashes" was released today and features Celine along with Deadpool, dancing dramatically.
"I’m so honored and completely humbled to have written this song for the incomparable Céline Dion. Never doubt the power of hard work or the importance of small beginnings," Smith wrote.
Smith seems to be the antithesis to the anti-hero comic book character, but it works. You can watch Ryan Reynolds strut his stuff to Jordan’s music here.
Speaking of Smith, he will be back home singing the National Anthem at the Kentucky Oaks Friday.
