UNION, Ky. (LEX 18) — This month marks one year since Logan Cooper was struck and killed on the Dixie Highway in Grant County.

His father, Tony, says each passing day has been difficult.

"(Logan) was 19, was going to be 20 in November," Tony said. "Each day is tough."

The 2016 Grant County High School graduate was walking along the road when he was hit by a passing vehicle on May 21, 2017. That driver has still not been caught.

"It’s rough knowing he’s still out there and can do it again," said Cooper. "I don’t know how someone can live with themselves."

As the father tries to move forward, an upcoming event comes into the picture.

"It’s the Logan Cooper Memorial Dinner. He has two scholarships in his name: one for football and one for welding," said Cooper, who said the money raised will go to the scholarships.

"It’s helping someone else and that’s always good."

The dinner will be on May 12 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
