Kentucky State Police bresponded to the collision scene on US 119 North just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

The initial investigation determined that Shelly I. Carter, of Whitesburg.

Damron and Carter were transported to Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and were later released.  A passenger in the F-150 pickup, 32-year-old Joshua Craig Carter, of Nicholasville, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Joshua was the son of the driver, Craig Carter.

While this incident remains under investigation, no apparent contributing factors have been determined at this time.  Toxicology results from blood specimens given by both drivers, which are routinely obtained in fatal collision investigations, are pending.
