HOUSTON (WCMH) — As support continues to pour in for the victims of a mass shooting at a Texas high school, an NFL star is stepping up in a big way to help the families of those killed.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will pay for the funerals of those killed in Friday’s shooting at Santa Fe High School.

The team confirmed Friday night that Watt would cover the cost of funeral services for the nine students and one teacher killed, according to KTRK.

Watt sent a Tweet out Friday as the shooting unfolded, saying simply that the news was "absolutely horrific."

Watt was named one of Sports Illustrated’s Sportspeople of the Year after raising more than $37 million for Hurricane Harvey relief.
