ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) State Police arrested an Anderson County woman and her boyfriend after hospital workers found bite marks on her child and signs of drugs in his system.

According to the arrest citation, human bite marks were found on the child.

Police say that 36-year-old Dawn Baker brought the three-year-old to the emergency room on May 14 after they spent a weekend at her boyfriend’s home. The arrest citation said that at the hospital, doctors figured out the child had marijuana and amphetamines in his system. The staff also found a partial outline of a handprint on the child, as well as human bite marks.

Police say the mom blamed the dog for the bites and her boyfriend for the injuries. She could not explain how the drugs ended up in the child’s body.

The child’s father, Ernest King, tells LEX 18 that this is not the first time he has seen bruises on his child.

"He got like bruises on his face or cuts on his body, and then I asked him what happened and sometimes he’ll say, ‘baby mama’ or ‘mama did it’," said King.

LEX 18 reached out to Baker for comment but we have not heard back from her yet.
