LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — One person was killed and three others were wounded in Lexington during a weekend marked by seven calls of gunfire.

Lexington police tell LEX 18 that they are stepping up patrols in response to the violence over the weekend, stating that they received an alarming about of calls about gunfire.

In some cases, they found cars and homes damaged by bullets, but at least one incident turned deadly. Early Saturday morning, a man was shot and killed on Eastland Parkway in front of the Office Lounge. Another man was wounded in that shooting.

On Roosevelt Boulevard, police were called out three times for gunfire. In one of those calls, officers tell LEX 18, a man was found on a front porch suffering from a gunshot wound.

"When you hear something like that, it kind of scares me because I do have two kids. I don’t want to think about that, not here," said one neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous.

Lexington police ask that anyone with information about the shootings call authorities.
