LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Lexington Police Department got a sizable head start on their freeze pop collection Monday.

They posted to Facebook saying that Fla-Vor-Ice delivered a semi full of pops.

The post reads:

Thank you for this generous donation to our freeze pop drive!? Who’s next? Please help us make positive connections with kids this summer. You can drop off pops at any Lex Police location.

The Freeze Pops for Kids fundraiser will run until May 25.

The idea is simple: connect police and young people while sharing a frozen treat on a hot summer day. The freeze pops are taken to summer camps, city pools and other youth events.

The initiative builds on last year’s tremendously successful freeze pop drive, which saw residents, businesses and organizations donate more than 72,000 pops. This year’s goal is 100,000 freeze pops.
