FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Amy McGrath, a former Marine fighter pilot, has won the Democratic nomination for the 6th Congressional District.
McGrath bested Lexington Mayor Jim Gray and state Sen. Reggie Thomas, who came in third.

“I’d like to congratulate Lt. Col. Amy McGrath on her win in the 6th Congressional primary," Kentucky Democratic Party chairman Ben Self said in a statement. “Kentuckians are clearly energized and ready for change in Washington."

McGrath will face Andy Barr, the Republican incumbent, in November. Barr easily fended off a primary challenge by Chuck Eddy.
