MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police are searching for a suspect after he allegedly shot at a Mount Vernon police officer Tuesday night after a vehicle chase, then got away.

Authorities say the incident started with a car chase that ended in the Daughtery Road area. That’s where, according to police, the male suspect exited the vehicle he was in and fired at the Mount Vernon officer.

No one was injured in the shooting, but the suspect fled the area and was not found last night.

Police are in the area searching for the suspect. They aren’t sure of his legal name, but say the man goes by Joe Morris. He is a white male in his 30s and was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt.

He appeared to have a mullet-hairstyle.
