RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18)– Five Kentucky law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty were honored Thursday.

Louisville Metro Police Officer Nick Rodman’s name was added to the memorial. Rodman, a Georgetown College graduate, died in the line of duty last year.

Jason Ellis was also added. Ellis was with Bardstown Police when he was shot and killed while removing debris from the road. His murder is still unsolved.

"It has been 5 years tomorrow for us and it us still unsolved and, I want people to remember my husband and remember that it is not solved and to share how important it is to fallen families that we remember our officers and legacy they leave behind," said widow Amy Ellis.

Four other fallen officers from years ago were also honored.

Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton, who was gunned down in March, was recognized but his name won’t be officially added to the memorial until next year’s service.

These officers will never be forgotten, as they all gave the ultimate sacrifice.
