SCOTT COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) Cyclists will be riding on hundred miles across four Kentucky counties in the Horsey Hundred.

The Annual Horsey Hundred kicks off this weekend and local law enforcement met Friday to discuss safety measures everyone can take with hundreds of cyclists on the road.

This is to try and prevent a tragedy like the one that happened in 2015. Cyclist Mark Hinkel was killed in a hit and run in the final mile of the ride.

"It’s important to slow down, let’s be mindful of our visitors, let’s share the road. You’ve heard that saying over and over again. That’s very important this weekend and let’s make it a fun and exciting weekend for everybody and they get home safely," said Assistant Chief Robert Swanigan with the Georgetown Police Department.
