The Garrard Fire Department says the blaze started around 5 a.m.
Hours after the fire began, smoke could be seen from nearby Kamp Kennedy Marina.
Boaters say the home has been on the water since the late 1970s.
The owner "has big train horns on there and anytime somebody broke the no wake, he’s blow he horn," said Willis Young. "And he played for UK, and anytime there was a ball game on, when UK would score a touch down, he’d blow the horn too. He’s just been down here for a long time.”
Authorities say no one was hurt in the fire.
