LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – As Memorial Day weekend kicks off, many families are packing up the car and heading to the pool for the first time this season.
The annual Pool-A-Palooza event at Southland Aquatic Center took place Saturday afternoon.
The pool was crowded with hundreds people eager to enjoy the holiday weekend.

This is my first time coming to a pool in a while, so I was really excited,” said Lexington teen Summer Rowe.
“It’s a great beginning of summer thing. We’ve got lots of families here today. you can sign up for swim lessons and swim team,” said Amy Scaravilli, Lexington Pool Coordinator.
Other city pools that open this weekend are Tate’s Creek, Castlewood, and Woodland.
The rest will open next weekend.
