Memorial Day Celebrations Around The State

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Memorial Day is a time to honor the men and women who died while serving in the military.

There are events going on around central and eastern Kentucky to remember the fallen.

The state’s five veterans cemeteries will honor those who died serving our country.

The first will be held at the newest veterans cemetery in Leslie County.

That begins at 10 a.m. in Hyden, featuring a performance by Perry Central High School ROTC, who will then place flags on the graves.

The other four will be in Williamstown, Hopkinsville, Radcliff, and Greenup County.

Monday morning, there will be a ruck march from Richmond to Winchester.

That starts at 6 a.m. at White Hall Park in Richmond, and is held to raise awareness for suicides.

At 2 p.m. in Frankfort ,14 names will be added to the Kentucky National Guard memorial.

There will also be thousands across the country lying wreathes and flags on graves of fallen heroes.
