Sunday Marks 14th Anniversary Of Strongest Tornado To Hit Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Sunday marks the anniversary of a day that many people in Lexington will never forget.

On the night of May 27th, 2004 the strongest tornado in Lexington history was recorded in Masterson Station.

The tornado brought winds reaching up to 170 miles per hour, and the path stretched nearly three miles long.

More than 150 homes were either damaged or destroyed, causing millions of dollars in repairs.

Despite the destruction, no one was killed although six people were hurt.
