GARRARD COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) Three little calves on a Garrard County farm have beat some big odds in their lifetime and they’re only a day old.

"I think she was overwhelmed yesterday. When she laid down she didn’t want to get up. She was like, ‘what have I done?’," Farm Owner Reda Barnett said.

The "she" that Barnett is referring to is a cow named Brown Cow.

Wednesday, Brown Cow surprised Barnett with not one, not two, but three mini brown cows. Triplets only happen in one in 105,000 cow births. Barnett said she’s been on a farm her entire life and has never seen cow triplets.

"And not the size these are. These are like baby goats. You can pick them up and carry them," she said.

But the triplets aren’t alone. Another one of Barnett’s cows, Chocolate, had twins earlier this month.

"She’s had three sets of twins and she’s a twin so I’m used to twins," said Barnett.

Cows usually only have one calf at a time, so if more are born, they’re all sharing the same amount of milk.

"I was buying one bag of milk a week for two, so I’m probably going to be buying three bags of milk a week," she said.

Barnett said that she is thankful to have friends to help out with the tiny new additions to the herd.

"It’s going to be expensive, it’s going to be time-consuming, but I think it’ll be interesting," said Barnett.
