PULASKI COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) – A Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a crash that sent a juvenile to the hospital.

On Thursday morning, KSP received a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a Pulaski County Deputy Sheriff at the intersection of US Highway 27 and Kentucky Highway 914 in Somerset.

KSP said that 35-year-old Deputy Aaron M. Curtis, of Somerset, was driving a 2017 Dodge Charger patrol car, traveling southbound on US Highway 27 with his emergency equipment activated while responding to a call. KSP said that as Deputy Curtis approached the intersection, he hit a 2018 Nissan Frontier pickup traveling eastbound through the intersection. KSP said the driver was 31-year-old Melinda D. Lawless, of Russell Springs.

KSP said that Lawless failed to yield to the right of way for an emergency vehicle.

One juvenile sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital via a family member.

KSP continues to investigate the case.
