In the wake of the recently departed Alberto very warm and steamy air is entrenched across the Commonwealth. Throw a ripple of low pressure into the mix and strong to severe storms will fire late in the day. The severe threat index is elevated to a 1 (slight risk) Thursday for late day/overnight strong to severe storm potential. We’re tracking a chance for hail, damaging wind & heavy rain with a low threat for isolated tornadoes mainly over western Kentucky. This may come in multiple rounds- one late afternoon & evening and a second late evening into early Friday morning.
A cool front will track southeast Friday giving us another shot of scattered showers and storms but with a low to nil chance for severe weather to start the weekend.
