LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Lexington police and kids from the downtown area schools are getting together this week to paint murals.

It’s happening from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Friday, at the CycleYou building on Midland Avenue.

Kids from Harrison and Ashland Elementary will join a professional muralist, the police and volunteers from CycleYOU to paint their vision of our Mind, Body Spirit theme. The Murals will start on the back wall of the facility facing Corral Street.

“We want the kids in our neighborhood to have ownership of the businesses they see everyday, to feel a part of them,” Says Noelle Dick, CycleYOU owner, “By seeing their art on our walls it gives them a sense of pride and a positive interaction with us.”

Students were prompted with submitting art that reflects their interpretation of the words: “Mind, Body, Sprit.” To make their vision come true professional muralist’s Michelle Armstong and Jeremy Burch will guide them.

“This will be an annual project for CycleYOU” Dick says, “the goal is to fill our entire back parking lot inside and out with art from neighborhood schools.”     CycleYOU currently is displaying all the submitted art inside its studio.
