MARION COUNTY, KY (Lex 18) – A Marion County man has been charged with killing his wife, three-and-a-half years after her murder.

On Tuesday, Kentucky State Police Post 15 announced troopers arrested Howard Summers. A grand jury indicted him on charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Summers’ wife, Susanne "Diane" Summers, was found shot to death on her driveway on December 25, 2014.

Roger Middleton said he remembers hearing about the news through his coworkers.

"It shocked the Dickens out of me," He recalled. "It made me want to sit down and just say a silent prayer that it wasn’t true, but it was."

Middleton works at US Chita Co in Lebanon, where managers said Summers worked for close to ten years. There, She worked her way up to supervisor and eventually trained Middleton on the inspection floor.

"She was a nice lady, well liked, easy to get along with, didn’t cause anybody problems or trouble," Middleton said.

Summers’ family declined to comment on the arrest today.
