Teen Jumps From Third Story Of Burning Apartment

FT. MITCHELL, Ky. (WLWT)– An apartment caught fire Wednesday, damaging at least six other units.

Police said the fire broke out around 12:45 p.m. at the Mitchel’s Park Apartments on General Mitchell Lane.

Seth Fulk told WLWT that his girlfriend’s 17-year-old daughter was in the unit when it started burning. He said the trio returned home from a vacation a few hours before Wednesday’s fire.

"(We) dropped her off so she could take a shower and then we went to Burger King, so we could grab a bite for lunch," Fulk said. "Then we saw the smoke and came back up and then found that she had jumped out the window."

Fulk has no idea how the fire started, but he knows his girlfriend’s daughter was nearly overcome by emotion before she was taken to Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital to be checked out.

"She’s very scared, very scared, but I think she’s going to be be OK," Fulk said.

Fire officials are trying to find out what caused the fire.
