LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Police are investigating a shooting that injured one man near UK’s campus.
Shortly after 1:15 a.m. Friday, an alert from UK went out about shots fired at the Jersey Street lot, located by Raising Cane’s on South Upper Street.
Police say the victim was walking through the parking lot when another man got out of a vehicle, said something to him, then fired multiple shots.
The victim ran toward Pazzo’s and realized he’d been shot in the leg.
The suspect reportedly fled on foot.
Police say officers found a gun and several shell casings at the scene.
A vehicle also was hit by gunfire.
The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the shooting did not appear to be random.
