Corbin Woman Charged After Car Strikes Pedestrian In Knox Co.

KNOX COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police announced Saturday the arrest of a Corbin woman accused of fleeing the scene after striking a pedestrian with a vehicle.

Authorities say 41-year-old Michelle Huddleston Helton was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid with a serious injury.

KSP said that 46-year-old Shawna Moore, of Corbin, was walking Thursday north on Kentucky Highway 1232 in Corbin when a vehicle hit her with the passenger mirror, causing her to fall into the ditch. She was transported by ambulance to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin with non-life-threatening injuries. 

KSP said that Helton was the driver of the vehicle didn’t stop after the collision.

She was being held in Knox County Jail.
