BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – After a missing toddler was found in the woods of Bullitt County, the sheriff confirms that the child was been placed with CPS.

Charlee Campbell was reported missing last week. The 2-year-old girl, who has autism, was found Saturday with scratches and covered in tick bites.

Sheriff Donnie Tinnell says he isn’t buying the events that led up to her disappearance.

Campbell, wearing only a shirt and no pants, wandered to a home 500 yards from her grandparents. If she was in the area, the sheriff stated, he wondered why cadaver dogs and volunteers who searched the area hadn’t found her.

Investigators have requested a search warrant for family cell phones.

The sheriff also insinuated that the disappearance may have been the result of a custody dispute.
