Bus Driver Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

PINEVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) —  Kentucky State Police arrested 68-year-old David Deitsch and charged him with sexual abuse 1st degree.

Police say the charges stem from an investigation that began on May 3, 2018.

Detectives say Bell Central School contacted KSP Post 10 in Harlan reporting a sexual abuse complaint involving Deitsch, who was a school bus driver, and a student.

Through interviews and statements, police say they determined Deitsch inappropriately touched a female student on different occasions. Deitsch was suspended by the Bell County School System after being made aware of the allegations and resigned as a bus driver.   

Deitsch was lodged into the Bell County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond. The case is still under investigation by KSP detectives.

(June 10, 2018) On June 8, 2018 Kentucky State Police Detective Justin Barton made an arrest involving a sexual abuse complaint stemming from an investigation that started on May 3, 2018. Det. Barton began the investigation when Bell Central School contacted Post 10 Harlan reporting a sexual abuse complaint involving a school bus driver and student.

During the investigation it was discovered through interviews and statements that David Deitsch (68) of Calvin inappropriately touched a female student on different occasions. Mr. Deitsch was suspended by the Bell County School System after being made aware of the allegations and resigned as a bus driver.  

Mr. Deitsch was charged with sexual abuse 1st degree and lodged into the Bell County Detention Center. Case is still under investigation by Det. Justin Barton.
