HARLAN, Ky. (LEX 18) – Kentucky Native and ‘The Voice’ champion Jordan Smith has received an honor from his high school in Harlan County.

Harlan County High School named the school’s new performing arts center after the vocalist and songwriter. Smith posted a photo of the new center on his social media.

"I got to see this for the first time yesterday. If you would’ve told me in high school that my name would be above this door I wouldn’t have believed you. I spent thousands of hours (I counted) in these halls, getting involved in whatever I could that would make me a better musician, performer, and person, and while I’ll never fully understand why I get to be the one to live this dream, I feel grateful. Entirely undeserving, but extremely grateful and proud of this place," Smith wrote.

Smith received recent accolades most recently as a songwriter after penning the love theme for the motion picture "Deadpool 2." His song ‘Ashes’ was performed by Celine Dion.
