WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) – Even as crews continue to monitor smoke and flames at Stuff Recycling, the business announced on their website that they will reopen Thursday morning.

The blaze at Stuff Recycling, a scrap metal recycling center just over the Fayette County line in Clark County on U.S. Highway 60, broke out Saturday around 4 p.m.

The black column of smoke from the fire could be seen from miles around. Neighbors say when the fire first started, they heard loud booms. Piles of car parts and upholstery fueled the fire, which was still smoking Monday morning.

Despite the flames, Stuff Recycling thanked their neighbors in Winchester for their thoughts and prayers, announcing they would reopen later this week.

"We greatly appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers and we will be back open soon and better than ever, we also apologize for any and all inconvenience to our customers and neighbors and give a great shout out to the men/women helping at this time!!!!! We will reopen Thursday morning at 8 a.m.," reads a statement posted to the company’s website.
