CLAY COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18)– A teenager is still in UK Hospital Wednesday morning suffering from serious injuries after his dirt bike slammed into a car.
The accident happened on Keith Lane in Manchester.
First responders were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
When they got there, they found a 16-year-old lying in the road.
Family says the impact was so hard it split the bike in two.
The assistant fire chief says the boy was not wearing a helmet.
"The big thing here is the helmet. He probably would have done a lot better if he had the helmet on."
The teen’s family says he had injuries to his head and arm, as well as broken teeth.
We’re told the driver of the car tried to stop, but could not do so in time.
That person was not hurt.
