LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Officials in Lincoln County confirmed that remains found earlier this month in a rural area are those of a missing woman.

The Lincoln County Coroner said that the body found June 5 is that of April Neikirk.

Kentucky State Police have arrested a Somerset man in the case.

Officials say Neikirk was last seen in Lincoln County on April 25.

Neikirk was reported missing to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on May 11 after family members became concerned for her safety.

As a result of an ongoing investigation Otha G. Wesley, 45, of Somerset, was arrested and charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.

According to an arrest report, Wesley was seen assaulting and dragging the victim around April 26, while she was pleading for help and for her life. Officers also say in the arrest report that Wesley was seen inside a home with the victim’s lifeless body, which they say Wesley disposed of off Ike Singleton Road. Investigators say in the report that Wesley returned to the scene June 4 with the intent to bury the remains, according to the arrest report.
